looking glass was shot between 2017 and 2019 on 35mm film and scanned for this series in 2023.
The transition into adulthood can sometimes be characterized by increased temporality; moving cities, meeting new friends, meeting the friends of new friends, briefly visiting loved ones living elsewhere.
Socially, then, because of the newness and change, interactions are interspersed with either a “surface level deep” kind of feeling, or a meaningful connection that isn’t set to last.
Without knowing it at the time, photography was my way of trying to understand those around me and our relationship(s).
